Managing merchants

A merchant represents a storefront, venue, website, or payment source within the account. The account is the customer-facing brand; merchants describe the places where that brand trades or fulfils promotions.

Add or edit a merchant

  1. Open Merchants and select Add merchant.
  2. Enter a clear name and, when available, the website URL.
  3. Add a compact logo URL and a larger merchant image URL for customer-facing presentation.
  4. Choose relevant categories and write a concise description.
  5. Choose one or both merchant types:
    • Online for ecommerce destinations.
    • POS for physical point-of-sale locations.
  6. Save, then associate the merchant with relevant promotions.

Merchants and promotions

A promotion's merchant identifies the venue or commerce destination associated with that offer. One account can therefore run promotions for multiple locations without creating separate accounts.

Merchants in RO Wallet

RO Wallet can show the account's merchants as venues, including merchants that do not currently have an active offer. Names, URLs, logos, imagery, categories, descriptions, and Online/POS types help customers understand where they can shop or redeem.

The account's RO Wallet settings still own brand-level presentation, joining policy, balance visibility, and redemption behaviour. Do not use a merchant as a substitute for those account settings.

Merchants and ValueMapper MCP

MCP account and promotion tools use merchant information to give an AI assistant useful business and fulfilment context. Clear names, URLs, types, and descriptions make MCP results easier to interpret. MCP access remains account-scoped and does not turn a merchant into a separate security boundary.

  • Use one account for one customer-facing loyalty or promotion programme.
  • Use merchants for individual stores, venues, websites, or payment sources within it.
  • Create separate accounts only when access, wallet policy, or brand ownership must be isolated.
